Hi folks, this is Melc. I have been a gardener most of my life, partly in rural Gloucestershire and the rest here in Wiltshire. Most of my practical gardening has been/is done in collaboration with one or other of my sons, and we don't always see eye to eye!
However, we are both passionate about fuchsias and at the moment have an awful lot, (I wouldn't care to count them!) growing in the 'fuchsia palace' he built last year.
My very own bit of garden in Corsham has been like re-opening a stone quarry, but I've managed to hack out a small patch for my other passion - clematis.
Look forward to meeting other members at the 'Bring and Swap' event.
Melc.

Hi Mel welcome aboard, I hope you're making use of the blue water butts that I gave you.

Bob.

I most certainly am, together with anything else that will hold water.
Here in my bungalow I have had a water meter fitted, and by saving every drop of rainwater , not to mention recycling 'grey' water, I have got my water bill down to less than £70 for the last year. Water itself cost less than a tenner, rest is taken up by the standing charges! I even collect and store it in my wheelie bin, as I compost and recycle almost everything, so do not need the wheelie bin for its normal purpose! In the gardens every roof gutter has its rain barrel and thanks to today's downpours they are all full! I bless the blue barrels and you!

Hi Merle, I'm looking forward to learning lots from you about cuttings, fuschias etc. Very Happy I'm so impressed by your use of water - makes me think about what we can do here. Part of our garden is very stoney too, other parts clay - maybe not ideal Rolling Eyes
