Hi CFolks,
re Fuchsia Lady Boothy, its not really a new variety, been around since just after the war, I believe. My mother certainly had one when I was young, but I wasn't particularly interested in those days, and I know she didn't like it much anyway.
However, I 'found' it again last Autumn at the Gardening Show at Shepton Mallett. I can see why she didn't like it - its long and lanky and untidy...... it doesnt 'climb' in the accepted way having no tendrils or other mechanisms to climb with. It needs support and either tying in or threading through the support medium. It does'nt get very bushy (too busy going ahead to bother with laterals,) so as I wouldn't get many cuttings, I gave it a miss and bought 'Blacky' instead.
