I never had the heart to kill him
So wanted to use a live trap.
i used a empty 4 litre milk bottle in the bottom i put a blob of peanut butter.
left the body of the bottle over a hole ,so when the mouse went in the bottle tipped upright.
all i had to do was put the lid on the bottle drive miles and release him _________________ For the people of calne and surrounding areas to have your say what matters to you.

Great idea - can you develop one for slugs?

if you were to bury a empty 4 pint milk bottle and keep the nozzle about 2 cm above ground.
put a can of beer in to it the slugs go nuts and go into the bottle drink the beer and are to drunk to get out.so they drown. _________________ For the people of calne and surrounding areas to have your say what matters to you.

I had to chuckle about the mouse and driving miles to release him That means he left a carbon footprint having been taken away from his friends and family, not to mention the feast .
We get huge rats in our compost bins but can't do much about them as they come from the brook that runs alongside the garden. They did start nesting in the bins though and so we had to resort to a Rat Trap, especially when they were running around the patio eating bread put out for the birds .
It seems we just can't win with a love of animals vs composting
The same sort of thing drives me barmy when we put out bird seed and I spend most of my time weeding ears of barley from the cracks and crevices
As for mice - we had them in our shed and garage during this winter and I hated my husband using the guillotine/peanut butter traps, so I made him get live traps and then walk right through the woods to let them go, although I expect the same ones came back again. They ate holes in car rugs and several pairs of trainers became nesting boxes comlete with peanuts that they pinched from the bird feed store |
