Hello everyone.
This OldBird loves all things nature. I enjoy the challenge of growing odd things and things others can't grow, (must be a show off ) mostly I garden in pots or indoors as local herd of deer eat most of my trees and plants daily!!! But I love deer in my garden. I work at a cattery and have 2 old cats 16 & 17 yrs old and my wonderful 3yr old Jack Russell, Flora. We live out in the sticks but enjoy doing that. _________________ Do it today..

Hiya Oldbird and welcome.
Sadly we are now without pets. Our cats Jerry (21) and Tommy (19) died a few years back and our Border Collies Polly (12) died in Nov 2007 and Chloe (10) died in Feb 2008.
We now only feed the birds in our garden and provide shelter for frogs, hedgehogs and other beasties in the garden. _________________ Bob

Hello OldBird, We get foxes and badgers in our garden but no deer. Sounds like you have green fingers growing unusual things - wonderful

Hi Carrie, Yes deer ok but very distructive so any gardening is at your own risk and often a waste of money so I tend to keep to what fits in my conservatory..... not much room to sit in it though all pots everywhere..
I have a 5 foot nectarine tree I grew from a stone that had 3 fruits on it last year to my suprise. Loads of cacti including one that my Mum snitched a cutting from a plant in a hotel in 1960... still growing well and I have had it 6 yrs now since mum died.

Nectarine was 3yrs old when had 1 fruit & last year at 4yrs it had 3 fruits 2of which grew properly, it is hard to give it enough water every day,
I pump water out of my well to water all my plants so strong in the right arm!!!
Have just ,with difficulty moved it outside for the summer to make room for tomatoes and sweet peasand passion flower. hot day for hard work!!!
