Well my garden birds have again blessed us with a healthy family judging by the amount of cheeping coming out of the nesting box.
All too soon they will fly out and the garden will seem very quiet again, but whilst they are here I am constantly on watch for cats, not their fault they fancy Great Tit breakfast or supper.. I must say though I'm always relieved when it rains all day, as I know the cats will then be tucked up in their own homes leaving my garden birds to feed their babes in peace...
Anyone else got nesting birds and chicks???

We have Blue Tits nesting in our box for the third year in succession and the babies have hatched.
Nearby to there box a Thrush had laid her eggs and was sitting on them happily, but she disappeared suddenly and I think a cat must have fancied a Thrush Pie
We've also got a Wren's nest in a climbing Hydrangea on the front of our house, but after all the to-ing and fro-ing of building the nest, the Wren disappeared so maybe it realised that us humans had to walk in and out to the garage too frequently for it's liking. I just pray that a cat didn't get that one too
Have you been watching the Radio Wiltshire Blutit Webwatch? The mother bird "disappeared/died" over the weekend and they are now attempting to rear the chicks by hand, which I wouldn't have thought was possible |

Great to hear about the breeding birds, but cats must be some of the worst murderers around (I'm not a fan of domestic cats that are allowed to wander everywhere, kill birds and leave their mess in other people's gardens!). We had a thrush nesting successfully in about March. Don't think we have any other birds nesting now though - a black bird did try in our shed, but someone's cat was seen escaping from there a few times, and the bird disappeared
